Jellyfish are planktons of invertebrates (from the Greek Planktos, meaning wanderers) that drifted in ocean waters for more than 500 million years before the dinosaurs came along. They are creatures made from a gelatinous form and can be found at various depths, from the surface of the coast to very deep waters. They vary in size, with the largest found so far measuring 8 feet in diameter and tentacles over 100 feet. Jellyfish are very common organisms that can only breathe through their skin, are 92-95% water, and have no brain, bones, head, or heart.

Edible jellyfish are nutritious, containing large amounts of water (92-95%) and 3-7% protein. Edible jellyfish contain a large amount of collagen in their media (the gel layer between the outer and inner layers of the body wall structure). Jellyfish help protect against aging and skin damage.

Studies have shown that jellyfish collagen is rich in amino acids such as arginine, glycine, hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, which is the characteristic of collagen, and the amino acid profile is different from other collagen types, which can generate innate immune response by promoting cytokine production and phagocytosis activity of macrophages.

KollaJell™ (US Patent No. 10,287,339B2), a jellyfish collagen peptide extracted and produced through patented technology, is a rich source of type I, II, and V collagen containing natural neuroprotective antioxidants and macronutrients (sodium, potassium, phosphorus, chloride, copper, calcium, magnesium, manganese, sulfur, zinc, iron, and silicon).
