Sodium cyclamate is white needle,flaky crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, sweet taste. The dilute solution sweetness is about 30 times compares with sucrose. The sweetness is 40~50 times that of sucrose, non nutritive sweeteners. 10% water solution is neutral (pH 6.5), stable with heat, light and air. It tastes bitter after heating. The decomposition temperature of about 280°C, no caramelization reaction occurred. A slight decomposition under the acidic environment, but stable in alkaline. It can soluble in water (1g/5ml) and propylene glycol (1g/5ml), hardly soluble in the solution of ethanol, ether, benzene or chloroform. The concentration of more than 0.4% with a bitter taste, it will result odor like oil or rubber when the soluble in water with high content of nitrite and sulfite.
